About This Scheme

The “Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) for the Wards of States/UTs Police Personnel” has been introduced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and aims to encourage higher technical and professional education for the dependent wards of States/UTs Police personnel who are martyred during Terror/Naxal attacks. Through this scheme, a monthly scholarship of financial assistance for girls and boys per year is provided to eligible dependent wards pursuing first professional degree programmes. The scheme is implemented by the Welfare and Rehabilitation Board (WARB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, under the aegis of the National Defence Fund, through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) version 2.0.

Benefits

₹3.0K · annual

1. The applicant who is a girl shall receive ₹3,000/- per month, totalling ₹36,000/- per year.

₹2.5K · annual

1. The applicant who is a boy shall receive ₹2,500/- per month, totalling ₹30,000/- per year.

1. All applicants selected under the fresh category will be given personal letters from the Hon'ble Prime Minister in the appropriate language.

> Number of Scholarships:

A total of 500 new scholarships per academic year, equally distributed between boys and girls (250 each).

The quotas are NOT interchangeable between boys and girls.

> Duration:** Up to 5 years (depending upon the course duration as approved by the regulatory body).

  • A certificate issued by the State Govt. concerned indicating that the State/UTs Police personnel was killed in terror/naxal violence is required to be uploaded. This is a mandatory requirement for applying scholarship under PMSS.
  • Applicants are required to upload duly attested scanned copy of the Mark sheet MEQ i.e. XII/Diploma/Graduation or equivalent

  • The certificate issued by the educational institution
  • Note: Submission of bank particulars including the account number of the nationalized bank by the applicant duly seeded with an Aadhaar Number is mandatory.
