About This Scheme

The scheme "Labour Welfare Scheme (Health)" was launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. The scheme aims to provide comprehensive health care facilities and medical financial assistance to unorganised sector workers. The scheme provides outpatient dispensary services, hospital care, and monetary reimbursements up to ₹7,50,000/- for critical illnesses such as cancer, heart diseases, and kidney transplantation, alongside subsistence allowances and maternity benefits. The applicant must be a registered beedi, cine, or specified non-coal mine worker or their dependant.

##### Mental Diseases

₹30

Financial assistance of ₹30/- per patient per day for indoor treatment and ₹6/- to ₹60/- per patient per day for outdoor treatment is provided for leprosy.

##### General Healthcare

Healthcare facilities are provided to workers and their dependants through a network of 10 hospitals and 285 dispensaries.

Financial assistance of ₹300/- is provided for the purchase of spectacles.

##### Heart Diseases

₹1.3 L

Reimbursement of expenditure up to ₹1,30,000/- is provided for the treatment of heart diseases.

##### Kidney Diseases

Reimbursement of expenditure up to ₹2,00,000/- is provided for kidney transplantation.

##### Cancer

₹7.5 L

Reimbursement of actual expenses on treatment, medicines, and diet charges, up to ₹7,50,000/-, is provided for cancer.

Travel allowance for a cancer patient and one attendant is payable at ₹50/- per day per person.

##### Minor Surgeries

Reimbursement of expenditure up to ₹30,000/- is provided for minor surgeries like hernia, appendectomy, ulcer, gynaecological diseases, and prostate diseases.

##### Maternity and Family Welfare

Grant of ₹1,000/- per delivery is provided to female workers as a maternity benefit.

Monetary incentive of ₹500/- per head is provided for undergoing sterilization under the family welfare initiative.

##### Tuberculosis

₹750 · monthly

Subsistence allowance of ₹750/- to ₹1,000/- per month is granted for tuberculosis patients.

Maintenance allowance of ₹600/- to ₹750/- per month and medicine cost of ₹50/- per month are payable for domiciliary treatment of tuberculosis.

Daily food allowance of ₹15/- or a yearly grant of ₹20,000/- is provided per tuberculosis patient.

##### Leprosy

₹300 · monthly

Subsistence allowance of ₹300/- per month with dependants and ₹200/- per month without dependants is provided for leprosy patients.

Maintenance allowance of ₹180/- per month for state beds and ₹900/- per month for independent beds for six months is provided for mental diseases.

₹600 · monthly

Maintenance allowance for dependants of mental disease patients is provided at ₹600/- to ₹750/- per month for nine months.

##### Conditions for Availment

_* Prior approval of the concerned Welfare Commissioner is necessary before beginning treatments for heart ailments, kidney treatment, and cancer._

_* The ophthalmic benefit for purchasing spectacles is given only to the worker and not to their dependants._

_* The maternity benefit is limited strictly to the first two deliveries._
