About This Scheme

The "ICAR Emeritus Professor Scheme" is implemented by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, to utilise the expertise and services of outstanding superannuated teachers and scientists from the National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES). The scheme provides an opportunity to retired professionals to undertake teaching, training, student research guidance, and other academic activities in agricultural universities and institutions. It supports the development of instructional materials, textbooks, and e-learning resources for use in national agricultural education programmes and distance education. The scheme aims to address shortages in faculty positions, strengthen agricultural education, and leverage the experience of retired experts in addressing nationally important academic and policy issues. It also encourages retired teachers and scientists to contribute to higher agricultural education, particularly in economically and ecologically underprivileged regions.
